Q: How to make a Kyoshi warrior costume?

I am helping my girlfriend make a Kyoshi warrior costume for Otakon, which is at the end of this month, and was hoping for some helpful tips. I have experience in costuming and slightly above average skills in prop work and "hard parts" The problem for me is my novice sewing skills. Does anyone have any ideas for a cheap but good costume? Thank you in advance.

A: What I'm seeing when I search "Kyoshi warrior" looks like a hakama and who knows what (maybe a kosode?) under the armor. I suspect you'd be best off with a commercial pattern: http://www.folkwear.com/151.html but this looks pretty straightforward: http://fibers.destinyslobster.com/Japanese/Clothes/japmakewomenshakama.htm Kosode: http://www.wodefordhall.com/kosode.htm http://folkwear.com/113.html (but narrow the sleeves significantly) More help: http://www.amazon.com/Make-Your-Own-Japanese-Clothes/dp/087011865X Both garments are pretty straightforward sewing, especially the kosode. Can either of you use a sewing machine? If so, can you sew a pillowcase? If so, these are not much more difficult.
